S-1701: Unintended Consequences

Dear NJSBA Member,

Senate Bill 1701, the new budget cap law, represents the most significant change in school finance since the Comprehensive Educational Improvement and Financing Act of 1997.

NJSBA has created this special Web page to provide information about the new law and its impact on collective bargaining, education programming, and financial operations.  You will also have the opportunity to pose questions about the new law.  And, on a regular basis, our legal, policy, finance and negotiations experts will post responses here.

During the coming months, your Association will focus on educating its members about the law’s requirements, advising them about its implementation and, most important, advocating for the repeal of the act.

Thank you for joining in this important effort.

Sincerely,

Edwina M. Lee
Executive Director
