Dear Prospective School Board Member,

Thank you for your interest in serving on your local board of education!

Let me assure you that, if you are elected, the New Jersey School Boards Association stands ready to provide you with the information, training and advice you will need to carry out your responsibilities on behalf of the schoolchildren of your community.

What is the New Jersey School Boards Association?

NJSBA is a federation of the state’s local boards of education.  Each year, we offer dozens of training programs, ranging from New Board Member Orientation to Advanced Bargaining. We provide expert information and assistance in print, online, over the telephone and in person—through our attorneys, policy and labor specialists, and our field service staff who work directly with your board.

NJSBA also advocates the beliefs of the state’s local boards of education in Trenton, on Capitol Hill, and wherever decisions are made that affect the governance and operations of our schools.

We are here to help you. And NJSBA welcomes – and needs – your involvement.

This School Board Candidate’s Kit provides information and tools, including a sample nominating petition, to assist you in your decision to run for school board office.

You can learn more about local school board responsibilities by attending one of the regional candidate briefings scheduled in March.  Conducted by our expert field service staff, this evening program will give you a better understanding of what will be expected of you as a school board member.  There is no charge for attendance.

For information about the candidate briefings, call NJSBA toll free at (888) 886-5722, ext. 5255.

Sincerely,

Kevin E. Ciak

President
