Education Requirements

 A Checklist for Boards of Education
January – April 2001

¨     Board members are familiar with the provisions of the continuing education code and recent developments in the requirements. 

¨     The Board has updated and adopted revised policies on Professional Development, Supervision and Evaluation.

¨     Based on its local policies and resources, the Board has reviewed and approved or rejected the local professional development plan that was approved by the County Professional Development Board. 

¨     The Board’s preparation of its 2001-2002 budget includes considerations and allocations for the continuing education requirement. 

¨     The Board is prepared to negotiate continuing education issues (i.e., the Board is prepared to bring its own proposals and to respond to union proposals). 

¨     The Board is aware of the Administration’s role and ongoing efforts in implementing this requirement (including:  incorporation of the requirement into the evaluation process; need for support and training of administrators; implementation of the local professional development plan for the coming year).
