YOUR COUNTY ASSOCIATION LEADERSHIP

Charles T. Miller
Vice President for County Activities
To help you in your role as a board member, each of the twenty-one counties has an association that offers educational programs and information close-to-home.  County School Boards Associations work hand-in-hand with NJSBA and are comprised of all school board members in your county.  County Associations are led by officers from local school districts.  Your County Association president and vice presidents are also part of another important link to the state Association through the County Association Leadership or CAL.  CAL meets three times a year to network, share ideas, learn more about statewide issues and work on leadership skills.

Milford Girls Take First In Lincoln Video Contest by Hunterdon County Democrat Tuesday May 26, 2009, 5:08 AM
VIDEO WINNERS -- Milford Public School students Bethany Wright (left) and Lindsey Thompson pose with state Attorney General Anne Milgram after receiving her congratulations on producing the first-place entry in a YouTube contest on the legacy of Abraham Lincoln.

MIFORD -- Two Milford School eighth-graders took first place in a video competition celebrating the legacy of Abraham Lincoln on the anniversary of his 200th birthday. The contest was sponsored by the Young Lawyers Division of the N.J. State Bar Association. In addition to receiving $250, Bethany Wright and Lindsey Thompson were honored at an awards ceremony at the Hughes Justice Center in Trenton on Law Day, May 1. Attorney General Anne Milgram and Chief Justice Stuart Rabner congratulated them for having the best middle school video.

About 75 schools participated in the "Law Day 2009 YouTube Video Contest" in middle- and high-school categories, said Milford Principal Maggie Culley. The videos could be up to three minutes long. They were judged on originality, creativity, adherence to the theme -- "A Legacy of Liberty: Celebrating Lincoln's Bicentennial" -- and quality. After researching Lincoln's life, Bethany and Lindsey wrote a short screen play, drafted family members as actors, and edited the video and digital material.
"Bethany and Lindsey are dedicated students who took on this challenge very seriously," said Ms. Cully.

Charles Miller, board members from East Amwell, is presented with the 2009 Maud Dahme School Board Member Recognition Award by Ed Stoloski, Superintendent of East Amwell; Dennis Cox, Superintendent of Hunterdon County ESC and Cindy Magill, outgoing Hunterdon County SBA President.
