NOTE TO BOARD MEMBERS:

The Reality of the School Accountability Act
Board members must be pre-approved by board resolution to attend this program. On March 15, 2007, Gov. Jon S. Corzine signed into law the School District Accountability Act. The multi-faceted legislation impacts school board travel and training, administrator contracts, budget procedures, and state intervention into school business operations.

This law will, and has had, a direct impact on the way school boards operate.  Please join us as we discuss the changes to school governance and what you need to know to comply with the new statutes

  • Expansion of existing training required for newly elected and new school board members.
  • Restrictions and rules guiding board member attendance at meetings and events besides their local board meetings.
  • Processes that must be followed to renew or alter administrators’ contracts and requirements for reporting and publicly posting administrators’ compensation
  • Development of plain language summaries of school budgets.

PLEASE REGISTER through your Business Administrator no later than Friday, October 26.
