Meeting the Mandatory Board Member Training Requirements
Board Members

Superintendents

Board Secretaries

Close to Home In an effort to make the new mandatory board member training as accessible as possible to our membership, the Ocean County SBA is pleased to host this NJSBA training program.

The School District Accountability Act impacts school boards in a variety of ways, and one key area is board member training.  Besides taking training in their first year, board members now need to attend additional training in subsequent years as described below.  This is the first year the requirement is in effect, and NJSBA has obtained the approval of the New Jersey Department of Education to offer a single course, focused on the state’s new monitoring system – the New Jersey Quality Single Accountability Continuum (NJQSAC) – to all affected board members

Board members MUST attend a required training program if they fall into one of the following categories:

  • First-term board members in their second and third years
  • Re-elected or reappointed board members

Although this is the closest program venue for Ocean County board members, NJSBA offers numerous evening training opportunities around the state. Dates, locations and registration information are posted on the NJSBA Web site.

PLEASE POLL YOUR BOARD and submit the registration form no later than November 25, 2007.

NOTE: All registrants must be pre-approved by board resolution to attend.
