NJSBA annually conducts a series of meetings with legislators in the summer, when lawmakers often have more time to meet with constituents. Board members are urged to attend meetings with legislators who represent their districts.
Since the initial announcement of this summer's legislative meetings was published in School Board Notes, two additional meetings have been scheduled: One on August 21 with lawmakers from the 26th Legislative District (parts of Essex, Morris and Passaic counties) and another on September 18 with 38th Legislative District legislators (parts of Bergen and Passaic counties). In addition the meeting previously scheduled with Assemblywoman Angelica Jimenez for August 14 has been rescheduled to September 11.
The list below includes both the new meetings and those previously scheduled:
August 20 Meeting with Assemblywoman Celeste M. Riley of the 3rd Legislative District the State House Annex on West State Street, Trenton. The 3rd Legislative District includes parts of Cumberland and Gloucester counties, and all of Salem County. New: August 21 Meeting with Assemblyman Jay Webber and Assemblywoman BettyLou DeCroce of Legislative District 26 at their office at 760 Route 10 West, Suite 101, Whippany. The 26th District includes parts of Essex County (Fairfield, North Caldwell, Verona and West Caldwell); Morris County (Butler, Jefferson, Kinnelon, Lincoln Park, Montville, Morris Plains, Parsippany-Troy Hills, Rockaway Township); and West Milford in Passaic County. August 23 Meeting with Sen. Joseph Pennacchio of the 26th District in his Pine Brook district office. The 26th Legislative District includes parts of Essex and Morris counties, and West Milford in Passaic County. September 11 (Rescheduled from Aug. 14) Meeting with Assemblywoman Angelica Jimenez of the 32nd Legislative District in her West New York office at 5 p.m. Jimenez is a member of the Assembly Education Committee. The 32nd Legislative District includes parts of Bergen and Hudson counties. New: September 18 Meeting with Assemblyman Tim Eustace and Assemblywoman Connie Wagner of the 38th District at their office at 205 Robin Road, Suite 330, Paramus. The 38th Legislative District includes parts of Bergen County (Bergenfield, Fair Lawn, Glen Rock, Hasbrouck Heights, Lodi, Maywood, New Milford, Oradell, Paramus, River Edge, Rochelle Park and Saddle Brook); and Hawthorne in Passaic County.
