NJSBA Resource Answers Over 100 School Election Questions

How are candidates’ positions on the ballot selected? What is electioneering? What happens if there is a tie vote?

These and other questions are answered in NJSBA’s document, “School Election 2010 Questions & Answers.” The 33-page Q&A addresses more than 100 of the most common questions that NJSBA receives during the Annual School Election season.

Written by NJSBA’s legal staff, the document is designed to help school officials, candidates, citizens and the news media navigate through the often complex laws and regulations involving the Annual School Election. New Jersey’s school election, to be held April 20 of this year, is when voters in more than 90 percent of school districts select school board candidates and decide whether to approve their local school system’s annual budget.

The resource will be posted in the “What’s New” section of NJSBA’s homepage, www.njsba.org throughout the school-election season.
