Bilik, the executive director of the New Jersey School Boards Association, today issued the following statement in response to Governor Christie’s announcement of the nomination of Christopher Cerf for the position of Commissioner of Education. “The New Jersey School Boards Association looks forward to Mr. Cerf’s leadership in areas critical to education reform, including proposals to improve the teacher compensation, tenure and evaluation processes. “Mr. Cerf is a New Jersey resident whose experience in a leadership position in the New York City public schools appears to fit in well with the administration’s desire to improve the delivery of education to children in poor communities. “We look forward to hearing Mr. Cerf’s vision for public education in New Jersey and to continue working with the state Department of Education on the goals that we share for public schools and their students.”
