Gov. Corzine to Address School Officials Wednesday at Education Conference ATLANTIC CITY, October 28, 2008 — Gov. Jon Corzine will address New Jersey’s local school officials Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Workshop 2008, the annual training conference for local school officials that attracts approximately 10,000 participants to Atlantic City, the New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA) announced today. Gov. Corzine’s speech is scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, in Hall A of the Atlantic City Convention Center. His comments will be part of the State Legislative Update program that will also feature members of the Senate and Assembly Education Committees. During the deliberations over the most recent state budget, Gov. Corzine made public education one of the priorities that did not get cut. The new funding system he proposed increased state aid to education by more than $500 million. However, school officials will earnestly be looking for news on the future of state funding in light of the nationwide economic crisis. Workshop 2008 is sponsored by the New Jersey School Boards Association, the New Jersey Association of School Administrators, and the New Jersey Association of School Business Officials. The three-day program, which runs from Oct. 28-30, features approximately 190 classes and other training opportunities. Attendance at Workshop 2008 programs is free for credentialed news staff of print and broadcast media. NJSBA will operate a newsroom for reporters in the Atlantic City Convention Center. Press kits, telephones and Internet access will be available. Upon arrival at the Convention Center, reporters should register at the Workshop Newsroom on the second floor, outside Hall A. The newsroom telephone number will be (609) 449-3943. Reporters who plan to cover the governor’s address, or any other Workshop program, should contact Frank Belluscio (fbelluscio@njsba.org) or Mike Yaple (myaple@njsba.org) at (609) 449-3943 through Thursday, Oct. 30. ********
