Bilik, executive director of the New Jersey School Boards Association, today issued a statement following the death of Alex DeCroce, Assembly minority leader. “For more than 22 years, Assemblyman DeCroce championed the citizens he represented in the state Legislature. He was a strong advocate for the taxpayer and always clearly defined his positions on public policy issues. “We extend our condolences to the DeCroce family and the Assemblyman’s colleagues on his untimely passing.” Elected to the Assembly in 1989, DeCroce served as the Assembly Republican Leader since 2003. He previously was the Deputy Assembly Speaker from 1994 to 2001 and served as Republican Conference Leader. DeCroce represented the 26th Legislative District, which includes 15 municipalities in Morris and Passaic counties. DeCroce passed away last night during the final voting session of the Legislature’s 214th session. ******** The New Jersey School Boards Association is a federation of 587 local boards of education and includes 62 charter school associate members.
