The New Jersey School Boards Association’s Delegate Assembly will convene at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19 at the Wyndham Princeton Forrestal Conference Center in Plainsboro. The Delegate Assembly is NJSBA’s policy-setting body, and its decisions determine the Association’s positions on issues in Trenton, Washington, D.C., and the courts. The agenda includes one resolution, which was submitted by the Burlington City Board of Education. The resolution calls for NJSBA to seek changes to the recently enacted requirement that school board members submit to criminal history record checks, so that the process takes into consideration the following factors when determining disqualification from board service: the nature of the offense; how long ago the offense took place, and the person’s record since that time. Reporters may contact Frank Belluscio or Mike Yaple at (609) 278-5202 for additional information. ******** The New Jersey School Boards Association is a federation of 587 local boards of education and includes 62 charter school associate members. NJSBA advocates the interests of school districts, trains local school board members, and provides resources for the advancement of public education. ### |
