59 of the 89 construction plans on the ballot in 2000 (66.3%) called for adding classrooms, science laboratories, media centers or other expansion to buildings.

 

84.7% (50 of 59) of the ballot questions calling for additions or expansion gained voter approval.

 

 

 

Renovation/

Repairs

 

71 of the 89 proposals (79.8%) called for replacing or upgrading heating, plumbing, ventilation or electrical systems; repairing or replacing roofs; upgrading instructional facilities and/or other structural or system repairs.

 

 

81.7% (58 of 71) of questions calling for renovation and/or repair were approved.

 

New Schools

 

20 of the 89 questions (22.5%) proposed the construction of new school buildings.

 

 

65% (13 of 20) of proposals for new schools met with voter approval.

 

 

 

Technology

 

 

8 of the 89 proposals (8.9%) sought technology upgrades such as new equipment, rewiring or renovations to accommodate electronic equipment.

 

62.5% (5 of 8) of questions calling for technology installation or upgrades gained voter approval.

 

 

Athletic

Facilities

 

24 of the 89 proposals (26.9%) called for repairs or construction of athletic fields/facilities or gyms.

 

70.8% (17 of 24) of questions calling new or improved athletic facilities were approved.

 

ADA

Compliance

 

9 of the 89 proposals (10.1%) called for renovations to provide access to school facilities in compliance with the federal Americans with Disability Act.

 

 

77.8% (7 of 9) of questions calling for renovations to comply with the ADA were approved.
