NEWS RELEASE CONTACT: Frank Belluscio (fbelluscio@njsba.org) FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Briefings Set for School Board Candidates Trenton, March 2, 2007 - New Jerseys county school boards associations will sponsor four briefing sessions for local school board candidates in March. Coordinated by the New Jersey School Boards Association, the four regional programs will provide candidates with an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of local boards of education. Candidates will receive information on what to expect if they are elected to office during the Annual School Election on April 17. The briefings will cover issues such as school policy, administration, finance and budgeting, collective bargaining, community relations, and relations among the board, superintendent and staff. Serving on a local board of education can be truly rewarding, yet also very challenging, said Kevin E. Ciak, NJSBA president. These evening programs, which are conducted by our expert field service staff, provide candidates with a better understanding of what will be expected of them as a school board member. There is no charge for attendance. Dates and locations of the briefings are as follows: Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and Warren Counties Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Somerset and Union Counties Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem Counties Ocean County [Editors, news directors, reporters: Times, dates and locations of meetings are subject to change.
