Voters to Decide $136 Million in School Construction Proposals on April 15
TRENTON, April 7, 2008—Voters in 15 school districts will decide school-construction proposals totaling $136 million on April 15, according to the New Jersey School Boards Association. Construction
proposals that involve “green energy” continue to be popular, with three of
this month’s 15 proposals including solar projects. In the March 2008 bond elections, three of
the eight proposals asked voters to approve projects for solar power. Solar
has become an increasingly viable option for some school districts, with
grants and other incentives available from state agencies.
April 15 is the Annual
School Election – the date when voters in 90 percent of

the total amount of construction requested on the April 15 ballot, $37.3
million would be eligible for reimbursement through annual state aid for debt
service.
