Voters Approve $35 Million in School Construction TRENTON, October 1, 2008 — Voters in four school districts approved $35.5 million in proposed school construction on Tuesday, the New Jersey School Boards Association reported today. State aid will cover more than $11.7 million of the approved spending. In all, seven school boards had placed referendum questions on Tuesday’s ballot, for a total of $130 million of proposed construction. State law limits school special elections to five specific dates a year. The final bond referendum date this year will be Tuesday, Dec. 9. The following are results of the bond questions on the Sept. 30 ballot: New Jersey School Construction Referendums STATEWIDE Total amount approved – $35,530,601 ($130,009,272 proposed) Amount eligible for state reimbursement – $11,750,137
MONMOUTH COUNTY
Shore Regional – Passed Replace heating, ventilation and air conditioning system at high school Total amount – $13,999,645 Amount eligible for state reimbursement – $5,599,858
Wall Township – Rejected (both questions) Proposal 1: Construct a new early learning center and acquire land; renovations to the high school Total amount – $35,940,565 Amount eligible for state reimbursement – $4,500,777
Proposal 2 (contingent upon passage of Proposal 1): Renovations to the high school athletic fields and facilities. Total amount – $7,527,282 (Not eligible for state funding)
MORRIS COUNTY
