Voters Approve $35 Million in School Construction

TRENTON, October 1, 2008 — Voters in four school districts approved $35.5 million in proposed school construction on Tuesday, the New Jersey School Boards Association reported today. State aid will cover more than $11.7 million of the approved spending.

In all, seven school boards had placed referendum questions on Tuesday’s ballot, for a total of $130 million of proposed construction.

State law limits school special elections to five specific dates a year. The final bond referendum date this year will be Tuesday, Dec. 9.

The following are results of the bond questions on the Sept. 30 ballot:

Wall Township – Rejected (both questions)

Proposal 1: Construct a new early learning center and acquire land; renovations to the high school
