NJSBA Issues Statement on Toms River Charges

TRENTON, October 25, 2010 —Marie S. Bilik, executive director of the New Jersey School Boards Association, today issued the following statement concerning the recent charges filed against the superintendent of the Toms River Regional School District.

“The New Jersey School Boards Association has offered the Toms River Regional Board of Education assistance and support during this difficult time for the community. The charges filed against the district’s superintendent involve accusations of serious legal and ethical violations.

“NJSBA stands ready to support the regional board of education with legal information, policy assistance and guidance on providing continuity of leadership.

“Toms River Regional is a highly regarded school district in terms of student achievement, services and programming. The local school board has indicated that it is prepared to ensure no disruption of the education program, and NJSBA is ready to assist it in any possible way.”
