TRENTON, March 5, 2009—Voters in five school districts will decide $141 million of proposed school construction on Tuesday, the New Jersey School Boards Association reported today. Of the $141 million requested, nearly $32 million would qualify for state aid. The state has been providing construction funding through annual “debt service aid” to school districts. School boards may schedule bond referendums on five specific dates a year. After Tuesday’s vote, the next date that school board may place a school-construction question on the ballot is the Annual School Election, on April 21.
