Voters to Decide $194 million in School Construction Tuesday

TRENTON, December 10, 2010—Voters in eight New Jersey school districts will act on $194 million in proposed school construction next Tuesday, the New Jersey School Boards Association reported today.

Of the total amount that is being requested, more than $51.7 million would qualify for state funds, either through one-time school-construction grants or annual “debt service aid” payments to school districts.

School boards may hold special elections on five specific dates a year. The next date on which a school board may schedule a bond referendum question is Jan. 25.
