Federal Update: NEA Files Lawsuit on NCLB Unfunded Mandates
The National Education Association, in conjunction with nine school districts in Texas, Michigan and Vermont, last month filed a lawsuit, Pontiac vs. Spellings, against U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings in a Michigan federal district court, arguing that the United States Department of Education violated the “unfunded mandates provision” of the No Child Left Behind Act. Court Rules on School Ethics Act
On April 20, in Magnolo vs. Washington Twp. BOE, the Appellate Division of the New Jersey Superior Court determined that courts can exercise jurisdiction over the School Ethics Act and can make a judicial finding regarding an ethical conflict by board members. Get the full story.
