No Child Left Behind Results Released
More schools in need of improvement
The New Jersey Department of Education released preliminary results last week of the status of the state’s schools in making adequate yearly progress for 2004-05 under the No Child Left Behind Act requirements. The report identifies 851 schools, or 35.5 percent of the state’s 2,398 public and charter schools, as having not made adequate yearly progress, compared with 585 schools in the previous year. Rep. Holt Holds Conference on Dangers of Pesticide Use
Prompted by the release of a new study in the Journal of the American Medical Association on the dangers of pesticide and other chemical exposure among children and school employees, U.S. Representative Rush Holt held a press conference earlier this month at the Lawrenceville Elementary School to discuss the School Environment Protection Act, a bill he introduced to establish federal restrictions on pesticide use at or near schools.
