Board Members Needed to Help Amend S-1701

It has been over a year since S-1701 was signed into law and its negative impact has reverberated through every school district in the state. A-3680, the bill that amends S-1701, has finally passed the Assembly, but it is not even half way through the process of becoming law.  First, the Senate needs to gain interest in the passage of S-2278 or S-2329, the companion bills to A-3680. NJSBA will then be advocating for S-2278/S-2329 to be heard in the Senate Education Committee as soon as possible.

NJSBA is urging all school board members to contact their state Senators to let them know how important this legislation is, and request that they urge their colleagues to post the bills in the Senate Education Committee as soon as the Legislature reconvenes.  The final bill will not take affect until it is signed by the governor. As a reminder, don’t forget to include the governor on all of your correspondence.
