Policy Services NJSBA provides a range of policy services to assist local boards in ensuring their districts are run with the greatest efficiency and in helping students achieve academic success. The Association’s policy department maintains several useful resources for boards, including the Critical Policy Reference Manual. The manual is a comprehensive collection of almost 200 legally documented model policies in mandated subject matter areas.
These models offer a guide to districts in developing their own policy manuals, setting forth the board’s general philosophy and providing direction to the administration, staff and students. Besides a clearinghouse of district sample policies compiled for boards, NJSBA maintains a Manual for the Development of Job Descriptions, and assists boards that wish to update their policy manuals.
Legal Assistance Every day of the week, a staff attorney sets aside all other projects and devotes the day to providing legal information to callers. Telephone calls from board and charter school members, school administrators, and board counsel are welcome.
