A dozen families at the Hillside Elementary School in Livingston spent their waning days of summer vacation cleaning up the three areas that make up the Hillside Elementary School Garden Habitat. They had maintained the habitats over the hot, dry summer thanks to a schedule organized by the PTA Habitat Committee and its chair, Laurie Wolfe.
The habitat was created two years ago by a group of parent and teacher volunteers as a place for children to enjoy, and as a means of enhancing the curriculum. It continues to grow and change and has generated support from community service and business organizations.
Shown with their tools are students from the Hillside Elementary School in the Livingston Township School District.
