Do you want to help shape NJSBA’s legislative agenda and advocacy action plan? If so, the NJSBA Legislative Committee has openings for board members, those who wish to volunteer their time to communicate with their state and federal lawmakers about critical issues to New Jersey’s school districts.
NJSBA needs your support more than ever as it tackles tough issues like school regionalization, property tax reform, administrative cost caps, and unfunded mandates.
Openings The committee has vacancies for members and/or alternates in the following areas: District 4 (parts of Camden and Gloucester counties); District 9 (parts of Atlantic, Burlington and Ocean counties); District 16 (parts of Morris and Somerset counties); District 29 (parts of Essex and Union counties).
Grassroots Advocacy NJSBA’s Legislative Committee meets approximately six times a year to review and adopt positions on state legislative proposals affecting boards of education. In addition, it is responsible for promoting grassroots advocacy networks on the local, county and state levels. Committee members play an important role in these networks and are often called upon to testify at hearings before the Legislature and the State Board of Education.
