Do you want to help advance NJSBA’s advocacy action plan? If so, there are several openings on NJSBA’s Legislative Committee for board members who wish to volunteer their time to communicate with state and federal lawmakers about issues critical to New Jersey’s school districts.
The committee meets approximately six times a year to review and adopt positions on state legislative proposals that affect boards of education. The committee is also responsible for promoting grassroots advocacy networks. Committee members are often called upon to testify at hearings before the Legislature and the state Board of Education.
NJSBA needs your support more than ever as it tackles tough issues like school regionalization, property tax reform, administrative cost caps, and unfunded mandates.
Committee openings are available in the following areas: 4th Legislative District (parts of Camden and Gloucester counties), Member; 9th District (parts of Atlantic, Burlington and Ocean), Alternate; 13th District, (parts of Middlesex and Monmouth), Alternate; 16th District, (parts of Morris and Somerset), Member and Alternate.
If you are interested in serving on the Legislative Committee or need further information, contact Katy Hague at 1-888-886-5722, extension 5215, or at khague@njsba.org.
