School Finance
Committee Openings

NJSBA is seeking two members for its School Finance Committee.

With the structure, funding and operations of public education under the spotlight during the upcoming special session on property tax reform, NJSBA needs school board members knowledgeable in the area of school finance to serve on this committee.

The panel will act as a task force to the NJSBA Executive Committee and will be a focal point for the Association’s efforts in monitoring and participating in the legislative discussions over school funding and tax reform.

Openings are available for board members whose districts fall in the following categories: Essex County area, district factor groupings “I” or “J”; and Monmouth/Middlesex area, district factor groupings “CD,” “DE” or “FG.” For further information, contact Edwin Carman at (888) 886-5722, ext. 5201.

Standards & Assessment Committee Seeks Members

NJSBA is seeking at least two more members for its Standards and Assessment Committee. The panel studies issues involving state and federal policy affecting standards and assessment. Committee members should either have a background or have a great interest in testing, assessment, the state’s Core Curriculum Standards, and the federal No Child Left Behind act.

The committee meets three to four times a year and reports annually at the Delegate Assembly. For more information, contact Carole Larsen at  (877) 294-6418.
