Hyndman, Aponte to Lead State Board

The New Jersey State Board of Education last month elected Arnold G. Hyndman to serve another one-year term as its president, and Arcelio Aponte to serve as the board’s vice president.

Hyndman was named to the state board in 2000 and has been its president since 2003. He is a dean at Livingston College, Rutgers University. He resides in Belvidere, Warren County, and is a member of the board of trustees for Warren County Community College. Hyndman is a Princeton graduate and holds a Ph.D. in biology from UCLA.

Aponte, who resides in Piscataway, Middlesex County, was appointed to the state board in 2005. He is an associate vice president for facilities and construction management at New Jersey City University. Aponte is a former charter school trustee. He holds a master’s in electronic engineering technology from The College of New Jersey.
