NJSBA Executive Committee to Meet

In accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act, notice is hereby provided of a meeting of the New Jersey School Boards Association’s Executive Committee. The meeting will be held at NJSBA Headquarters, 413 West State Street, Trenton, on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, 6:30 p.m.

The meeting is open to the public.

The agenda, to the extent known at this time, will include discussion and/or approval of the open and closed session minutes of the Oct. 4, 2006 meeting; vouchers past 60 days; ratification of officers’ vouchers; relocation of Field Offices; debriefing of NJSBA October 14, 2006 Board of Directors Retreat; and agenda for the Nov. 17, 2006 Board of Directors meeting.

Board of Directors Highlights

The regular meeting of NJSBA’s Board of Directors took place on Friday, Oct. 13, 2006 in Cranbury. Action taken by the Board of Directors included the following:

  • Presented resolutions and plaques to retiring officers, Glenn B. Ewan and Tanya M. Dickerson.
  • Discussed and viewed PowerPoint presentation on NJSBA Standing Committee Structure.
  • Viewed PowerPoint presentation on new NJSBA Policy Services.
  • Heard Construction Review Committee report.
  • Administered Oath of Office to Patti J. Pawling, Michael Brown, Sr., Vicki Hood, Kim Law-Jackson and Laurie Markowski.
  • Approved Minutes of the September 15, 2006 Board of Directors meeting.
  • Approved Association Holidays for 2007-2008.
  • Approved first reading of Governance and Operations Policy File Code 4131.3, Tuition Reimbursement.
  • Approved first reading of Governance and Operations Policy File Code 1004, Membership on Joint Committees and Education-Related Organizations.
  • Approved appointment of Legislative Committee members.
  • Approved 2005-2006 Audit Report.
  • Approved proposal to place $1,000,000 in Capital Fund Account and $300,000 in a new account for the implementation of the Long Range Plan.
  • Approved Executive Director’s 2006-2007 contract.
  • Heard reports from NJSBA Vice Presidents for Finance and Legislation/Resolutions.
  • Received reports from NJSBA President and Executive Director.

Former Officers Honored

The NJSBA Board of Directors honored former President Glenn B. Ewan on Oct. 13 for his service to NJSBA as president (2002-04) and acting president (2005), as well as other leadership positions.  Here, Executive Director Edwina M.
