From the Korean New Year to the Armenian Christmas to the Islamic celebration of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday, New Jersey’s list of approved religious holidays excusable in public schools reflects the state’s growing diversity in population. The state Board of Education recently endorsed a calendar that represents the holidays of several religions. The state’s list of religious holidays has nearly doubled , to 75, in the past 15 years. |
