Obituary: Marcia Deitz, active in NJSBA

Marcia Deitz, a school board member for more than 30 years and an active participant in NJSBA activities, died Tuesday, Nov. 7. A longtime Manalapan resident, she had recently moved to Jackson Township. She was 70.

Deitz began serving as a school board member in 1971 for the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional Board of Education. She was a memeber of the New Jersey School Ethics Commission.

Deitz also served on the Monmouth County Vocational Board of Education and the Monmouth-Ocean Educational Services Commission’s Board of Directors. She served on the NJSBA Board of Directors from 1999 to 2002.

Dietz led NJSBA ad hoc committees that studied school violence and nutrition. The Monmouth-Ocean ESC previously dedicated a new building in her name, the “Marcia Deitz Learning Center.” She is survived by her husband, son, two daughters and nine grandchildren.
