New Jersey Education Commissioner Lucille E. Davy recently extended an invitation to chief school administrators, principals and their professional colleagues to participate in the fourth year of a 5-year assessment pilot project.

The project’s ultimate goal is to develop, administer and score valid and reliable state performance assessments that could complement traditional standardized tests, said Teresa Barry, project and client service manager for TMI - The Madison Institute and the New Jersey Performance Assessment Alliance.

Executive directors of New Jersey’s major educational organizations, including the NJSBA, along with the state Department of Education, make up the alliance.  The pilot program will reach 100 districts this year.

TMI is a state-approved professional development service provider for educators and acts as an independent consultant to the alliance.
