Frank J. Cicarell, president of the Rahway Board of Education and president of the Union County Educational Services Commission, died on Jan. 8. He was 56.

Cicarell was a member of the Rahway Board of Education since 1995, serving as its president four times. He also served as a member of the Union County ESC and as its president for seven years.

A lifelong educator, Cicarell began working as a teacher and then moved into administration with the Elizabeth Board of Education.

Surviving are his fiancée, Renae LaPrete, a sister, nephews, a niece and great-nephews.
