The state Department of Education has launched a new Web site as a resource for school officials, parents, students and others interested in improving safety and security at New Jersey schools.
School officials also can use the site to request technical assistance from the education department in developing their school and district security plans. To access the new resource visit “New Jersey School Security” link on the education department’s Web site.
The site was developed as part of Gov. Jon S. Corzine’s S.A.V.E. (Strategic Actions for Violence Elimination) initiative, announced in October. It is designed in part to enhance collaboration among school officials, law enforcement agencies and the community.
Crisis Planning The site will act as a central resource for the latest information on crisis and emergency planning, school security, regulations, funding opportunities and available staff training, presentations and briefings, according to Commissioner of Education Lucille E. Davy.
Also included on the site is information about issues such as pandemic influenza planning, Internet safety, bullying and gang prevention.
