New Jersey Department of Education regulations direct school districts to maintain current lists of community-based health and social service provider agencies to support students and their families.
For the full text of the code (NJAC 6A:16-7.1), which addresses student development, visit www.nj.gov/njded/code/current.
Sources for community-based health and social service provider agencies could include local United Way organizations, and county, municipal or other local human service agencies.
Call 2-1-1 To avoid incomplete or outdated lists, NJSBA suggests that districts take advantage of a free and confidential community resource Web site launched in 2005: www.nj211.org.
District officials may also dial 2-1-1 to reach a live operator. The non-emergency hotline can provide them with links to private and government agencies in their community.
