Tax Cap Questions

“Property Tax Relief and School Budgets: Issues and Answers” is now available online. The training program is designed to help members understand the 4 percent property tax cap legislation.

Michael Kaelber, senior counsel, and Curt Wary, director of labor relations, address key issues of property tax relief, caps, the state commissioner of education’s role, budget surplus, and healthcare costs.

The state Department of Education’s budget development guidelines anticipate the enactment of the tax cap bill (A-1). The legislation would create 4 percent property tax caps on school, municipal and fire district budgets.
