In accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act, notice is hereby provided of a teleconference meeting of the New Jersey School Boards Association Resolutions Subcommittee. The meeting will be held at 3 p.m. March 28, 2007 at NJSBA headquarters, 413 West State Street, Trenton. The meeting is open to the public. The agenda, to the extent known at this time, will include review and action on one resolution which will come before the Annual Delegate Assembly on May 19, 2007. The resolution that will be considered by the subcommittee is listed below by sponsor, including the topic.
City of Burlington (Burlington) The resolution requests that the NJSBA adopt a belief that (a) The state of New Jersey should recognize school districts that demonstrate sound fiscal and legal practices, and have no audit recommendations, (b) that it is unfair to have certain districts subjected to a policy due to a label or designation, (c) that if a practice of nepotism is of concern to the state Department of Education, then all districts should be required to develop a nepotism policy, and (d) that in support of this belief, NJSBA will request that the New Jersey Department of Education withdraw N.J.A.C. 6A:10A-4.1(g) requiring a Nepotism Policy in Abbott districts.
Also included on the agenda will be the sunset review of the NJSBA Positions and Policies Manual, Section 5000 (Pupils).
Notice also is provided that the Emergency Resolutions Subcommittee may be required to meet May 14 at a place to be determined if any resolutions received by the Association are considered to be emergency resolutions for the Delegate Assembly agenda.
