As a 6-year-old girl in the Netherlands, Maud Dahme survived the Holocaust because of the decency and bravery of complete strangers. A member of the New Jersey State Board of Education for 24 years, Dahme devotes a large part of her time to Holocaust and genocide education. The Hidden Child is her story.
The NJN documentary, originally broadcast in 2006, has been selected by PBS for distribution to public television stations across the nation. It will be broadcast nationally by participating stations at 10 p.m. Thursday, April 12. NJN will broadcast The Hidden Child at 9 p.m. April 8 in advance of the national release. It also will rebroadcast the program at 12 a.m. April 14, and at 2 a.m. April 19.
The program captures Dahme’s return to the Dutch farmhouse and countryside where she was hidden as a child, and documents her emotional reunion with one of the Christian women who saved her life.
