Training to Support Student Development

The New Jersey Department of Education’s Office of Educational Support Services will conduct all-day training programs to address recently amended code on Programs to Support Student Development (N.J.A.C. 6A:16).

The State Board of Education readopted the code in September. The amendments provide minimum standards for policies and procedures on programs that support the social, emotional and physical development of students.

Security to Home Instruction Areas regulated under the new code involve school health services, coordinated systems of intervention and referral, school safety and security, and home instruction. Also included are student conduct, alcohol and drug use prevention, intervention and treatment referral, alternative education programs, reporting potentially missing or abused children, home instruction standards, and school health services in nonpublic schools.

To view the new regulations, visit the New Jersey Department of Education Web site at http://www.state.nj.us/njded/code/current/title6a/chap16.pdf.

To register, visit http://education.state.nj.us/events/ and select the preferred training location under “N.J.A.C. 6A:16 Programs to Support Student Development Regional Training”:
