Meet NJSBA’s Marketing Manager,
Legislative Analyst

Lauren Cuervo

Lauren Cuervo joined the NJSBA staff in December 2006 and is responsible for marketing the Association and its products, programs and services. She develops the Association’s marketing plans and strategies, analyzes the effectiveness of its communications campaigns and its sales efforts, and promotes and sells advertising space in Association publications.

Prior to joining NJSBA, her experience included serving as a marketing specialist for two firms and as a brand manager for Warner Brothers in Jersey City, where she worked with national retail chains and coordinated their marketing promotions to achieve sales goals. Most recently, Lauren served as the marketing director for Exxon’s Federal Credit Union, E53, in Linden, where she defined and developed its marketing strategy, plans and materials to grow products, services and membership. She also coordinated all special events, business development initiatives, and managed Web content and a marketing budget.

A graduate of York College of Pennsylvania, Lauren holds a bachelor’s degree in communications.

Maureen Shea

Maureen Shea joined the NJSBA in April and works in its Governmental Relations Department, where she tracks proposals before the Legislature and monitors action by the State Board of Education. She also is charged with responding to member questions about the status of legislation and the Association’s positions on bills. Maureen assists NJSBA’s lobbyists in determining which bills they should monitor.

She has worked as a senior legislative issues analyst for First Energy (formerly GPU), director of political affairs for the New Jersey Association of Realtors, and as an aide to former Gov. Jim Florio. Most recently, Maureen served as a political action and policy analyst for the Medical Society of New Jersey, where she managed state and federal political action committees, including government compliance management and PAC reporting requirements. She also developed and implemented fund-raising plans and positions on federal issues, acted as lead project manager for its Web site, and served as a speaker for an American Medical Association national PAC event.

A graduate of Rider University, Maureen has a bachelor’s in political science, magna cum laude.
