News from the New Jersey State Board of Education’s June 6 meeting:
- Sandra Alberti was appointed as the Director of the Office of Academic Standards. She is responsible for the development and implementation of New Jersey’s Core Curriculum Content Standards, recognition programs, and NJPEP – Virtual Academy. Prior to coming to the Department of Education, Alberti worked as a high school biology teacher, a vice principal, an assistant superintendent, and a chief school administrator. She replaces Linda Morse, who has transferred into the Office of Abbott Services for the new Division of District and School Improvement.
- The board’s nominating committee reported the following to be voted on at the full board’s July meeting: member Ronald K. Butcher for board president and Apollo Aponte to continue in his role as vice president. If elected or re-elected, each will take over immediately and serve a 1-year term.
