  • Over the past decade, New Jersey’s public schools have devoted a decreasing portion of their budgets to administration.

  • New Jersey has fallen from third highest among the states in administrative spending to 28th.
1992-93 New Jersey’s ranking among the 50 states in the percentage of public school expenditures devoted to “school administration” and “general administration” (10.42%).
1994-95 New Jersey’s ranking for administrative spending (8.82%).
1999-2000 New Jersey’s ranking (8.39%).
2003-04 New Jersey’s most recent ranking in the percentage of public school expenditures devoted to “school administration” and “general administration” (7.86%)
