Bilik, a 14-year staff veteran of NJSBA, was selected by the Board of Directors on Friday to serve as the Association’s new executive director, beginning Nov. 1.

	Arts Education Improves, Study Finds A recent study of New Jersey’s public schools found arts education has improved over the past two decades, but many schools fall short in dance and theater.

	Web Extra Ethics Commission Decides Cases About Threats, Privileges The state School Ethics Commission (SEC) issued two rulings over the summer where it found that board members had violated the school ethics laws regarding threats and privileges.

	Slow Census Response Delays Membership Cards NJSBA membership cards will not be mailed to local school board members until late October after Workshop.

	Meeting Notice: NJSBA Resolutions Subcommittee In accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act, notice is hereby provided of a meeting of the New Jersey School Boards Association Resolutions Subcommittee. Job Opening: Legislative Coordinator/Advocacy Programs NJSBA seeks a Legislative Coordinator/Advocacy Programs to establish a grassroots network to communicate board member concerns to various governmental bodies/agencies and to represent NJSBA’s interests by communicating with board members.
