In accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act, notice is hereby provided of a meeting of the New Jersey School Boards Association Resolutions Subcommittee. The meeting will be held at NJSBA headquarters, 413 W. State St., Trenton via teleconference on Oct. 9, 2007 at 3 p.m. The meeting is open to the public. The agenda, to the extent known at this time, will include review and action on a resolution and review of one proposed bylaws amendment which will come before the Semiannual Delegate Assembly on Nov. 17, 2007. The resolutions that will be considered by the subcommittee are listed below by sponsor, including the topic.
Sayreville (Middlesex) The resolution calls upon the New Jersey School Boards Association to adopt revised policy language to the NJSBA Manual of Policies and Positions on Education, File Code 6115 stating that NJSBA believes particular exercises for commemorative holidays should be left to the discretion of local boards of education and that NJSBA believes that a free public education would not be possible without the sacrifices of our veterans and that students should be made aware of the significance of Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
Bridgewater-Raritan (Somerset) The proposed bylaws amendment calls upon NJSBA to adopt replacement language to NJSBA Bylaws regarding the requirements to be a delegate and replacement of special delegates meetings with remote electronic voting.
Also included on the agenda will be the sunset review of the NJSBA Positions and Policies Manual, Section 6000 (Instruction) and 7000 (Construction, Remodeling and Renovation) for review and action prior to the Delegate Assembly.
Notice is also provided that the Emergency Resolutions Subcommittee may be required to meet on Nov. 12, at a place to be determined, if any resolutions are received by the Association to be considered as emergency resolutions for the Nov. 17 Delegate Assembly agenda. |
