Registration Deadline Approaches for Advanced Board Member Training at Workshop

The deadline is approaching for board members to register for the Advanced Board Member training that will be held at Workshop 2007 in Atlantic City.

Under the School District Accountability Act, board members are required to complete an advanced training program on school governance or relevant changes to New Jersey school law if:

  • they are in the second and third year of their first term in office, or

  • they were just re-elected or re-appointed to a subsequent term.

As this is the first year the requirement is in effect, Workshop 2007 will feature one of the training programs that will satisfy the requirements. The training program will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26. If you are registered for Workshop, you may attend this course as part of your Workshop registration fee. In addition to satisfying the requirement, you will earn .5 Board Member Academy Credits.

Pre-registration required by Oct. 17 Because of the need to produce materials, no on-site registration will be accepted. To register, school board members should have their business administrator contact NJSBA’s Business Department at (888) 886-5722, ext. 5217, or via e-mail.
