Dahme to Receive NJSBA Lifetime Achievement Award
Longtime State Board of Education member Maud Dahme will receive NJSBA’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Dedication to Public Education on Friday, Oct. 26 during the closing session of Workshop 2007.

Meeting the needs of special education students with limited resources is a concern shared by school administrators throughout the state, researchers for NJSBA’s study, “Financing Special Education in New Jersey,” found during site visits to 34 districts.

The National School Boards Association is urging local board members to contact their senators to urge them to vote in favor of the Fiscal 2008 Labor-Health & Human Services-Education spending bill (S. 1710).

NJSBA Facility Gets Planning Board Approval
Last week, the Hamilton Township Planning Board unanimously approved NJSBA’s application to build its planned headquarters/training center.
Welcome to Workshop Reception

Workshop to Feature Legislative and State Board Sessions
This year’s State Legislative Update at Workshop will feature a panel of four legislators, all of whom have had extensive experience on the Senate and Assembly education committees.

NJSBA/ NJASA/ NJASBO 2007 Workshop Shuttle Schedule
During Workshop, free shuttle buses will run between hotels and the Atlantic City Convention Center.

As Workshop 2007 approaches, school officials are reminded of the School Ethics Commission’s policy guideline regarding acceptance of meals and entertainment at conferences.

Delegate Assembly Handbooks to be Mailed
The NJSBA Delegate Assembly Handbook consisting of all resolutions and other materials relevant to the meeting will be mailed to the delegate, alternate or other board member who has preregistered to represent the board as delegate at the Nov. 17 meeting.
Conference to Focus on Graduation
A conference on the changes in store for New Jersey’s graduation requirements will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Nov. 1 at Rutgers University-Newark Campus.
State Board Update
The New Jersey State Board of Education discussed a new long-range plan at its Sept. 20 annual retreat.
Meeting Notice: Audit Committee
In accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act, notice is hereby provided of a special meeting of NJSBA’s Audit Committee to approve unbudgeted expenses of the Executive Director.

Meeting Cancellation
In accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act, notice is hereby served that NJSBA’s Legislative Committee meeting originally scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 10, has been cancelled.

Position Announcement: Mailroom/Maintenance Operator
NJSBA seeks a Mailroom/Maintenance Operator to process mailroom copy/shipping orders; fill department office supply orders; operate brass engraving equipment; and assist with interior/exterior maintenance tasks.
