On Saturday, Dec. 8, NJSBA’s School Finance Conference will help boards deal with the pressing financial issues of the budget season. The program—featuring business administrators as well as staff from NJSBA’s Governmental Relations and Field Service departments—will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Raritan Valley Academy of the Middlesex Regional Educational Services Commission in Piscataway.
After completing this program, board members will know what questions they should be asking during the budget process. Attendees will understand the use of policy as it relates to school finance, be able to read and interpret financial reports, and discover how finance is related to district goals and student achievement.
The program also provides an opportunity to hear the latest news from Trenton about the new school funding formula, which is expected to be released in the coming weeks. Presenters will discuss how the formula, along with other changes brought about by the School District Accountability Act, will affect school board budgets.
The cost is $125 for members and $250 for non-members. Board members will earn two Board Member Academy credits for attending. To register, call NJSBA’s Business Department at (888) 886-5722, ext. 5217, or (609) 278-5217. Board members can also access online registration forms, which can be completed and faxed to (609) 695-2934. For further information, contact Mark Bonjavanni at (888) 886-5722, extension 5207. |
