NJSBA has set deadlines for the webinars and Web-based training opportunities it is providing for members who are required to take the mandatory training under the School District Accountability Act.
Webinars, live conferences that allow participants the opportunity to interact with the presenters, will be offered on Wednesday, Jan. 16; Thursday, Feb. 7; and Monday, March 10. Each webinar runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Three days prior to the webinar, participants will receive an e-mail containing a login name and password, along with instructions on how to sign-on and how to submit a post-webinar assessment to complete the course. The e-mail will also contain links that will allow participants to download the webinar handouts. NJSBA recommends that board members not wait until the evening of the webinar to download the materials.
NJSBA has established the following registration deadlines:
| Webinar Date |
Registration Deadline |
| Wednesday Jan. 16 |
Friday, Jan. 11 |
| Thursday, Feb. 7 |
Friday Feb. 1 |
| Monday, March 10 |
Tuesday, March 4 |
For board members who can not take part in a “live” webinar or who prefer to work on their own schedule, a pre-recorded online Web-based version will be available to take beginning Jan. 22. The last day to complete the Web-based option, which requires participants to e-mail their assessment, is Friday, March 14.
The cost for the webinars and Web-based formats are $32 per person. To register, have your business administrator e-mail or call NJSBA’s Call Center at (888) 886-5722, ext. 5217. NJSBA must have the e-mail address of board members who wish to participate in either training format.
Board members will earn .5 credits toward the Certificated Board Member (CBM) or Master Board Member (MBM) designation in NJSBA’s Board Member Academy. Board members will also satisfy the legal requirement that they take training in the second and third years of their first term in office, and those in the first year of any subsequent term, under the School District Accountability Act(P.L. 2007, c. 53).
After NJSBA receives and scores your assessment, your business administrator will receive written confirmation that you have fulfilled your statutory obligation. |
