School Board Candidate Kits Have Arrived

NJSBA’s Candidate Kits have been mailed to school districts, and are also available online.

The Candidate Kits, an annual service provided by NJSBA, gives potential candidates information on how to become a school board member; details of NJSBA’s candidate briefings; important dates in the election process; state ethics requirements; and even a sample nominating petition. Each kit comes in a special folder.

A package of kits has been sent to each school district’s board secretary. The same information can also be found on the Candidate Kit section of NJSBA’s Web site.

NJSBA also placed a sample news release online that allows school board secretaries to alert their hometown newspaper about the availability of the kits.

The deadline for candidates to submit their nominating petition to their school board secretary is 4 p.m. on Feb. 25. The Annual School Election will be Tuesday, April 15. Throughout the school election season, NJSBA initiates public awareness campaigns designed not only to increase interest in candidacy, but also to urge citizens to vote on the Annual School Election.
