ACES: There’s Power in Numbers

ACES—the energy purchasing program of NJSBA, the New Jersey Association of School Administrators and the New Jersey Association of School Business Officials—is preparing for another round of bids for natural gas service.

ACES will go out to bid during the first quarter of 2008. More than 240 districts will be included in the aggregated request for bids, representing the largest government aggregation in the State of New Jersey. The bid will provide strong contractual and financial protection for districts, competitive pricing through its unique e-bidding process, “no-hassle” procurement, and customer service to districts.

Energy prices are extremely volatile, and ACES strives to provide competitive pricing and budget stability to districts.

ACES is also preparing bid documents for electricity services later this year. ACES, the Alliance for Competitive Energy Services, was created in 1999 to allow school districts to pool their resources for the bulk purchase of energy. The program is administered by Gabel Associates, a Highland Park energy-consulting firm.

School officials who are interested in joining ACES or who want more information should contact Carol Friedman of Gabel Associates at (732) 296-0770 or by e-mail.
